EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes

Every stable's story starts with a first winner, and ours arrived at Redcar on 26 May 2025. Miss Yechance — the £32,000 Goffs UK Premiere Yearling Sale purchase and the first yearling the operation ever bought — made her racecourse debut in the EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes and duly won.

Debut winners are rare enough; debut winners carrying a young stable's first real hopes are rarer still. The chestnut filly by Cotai Glory travelled sweetly through the race and put the result beyond doubt inside the final furlong, giving Al Leith Racing its first winner in Britain at the first time of asking.

What followed vindicated the day completely: a tilt at the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot, a stakes win at Catterick in July, and a Dubai Racing Carnival victory the following winter. It all began on the Yorkshire turf at Redcar.
